This video shows a warm up set which should be used prior to participating in a fitness/conditioning activity, or prior to a game.
Tackles will be made within 3m or 5m of the goal line. The Referee must position themselves in the in-goal or on the goal line according to where the tackle was made.
Tackles will be made close to the goal line, where the Referee is required to be positioned in the in-goal area, and then must move out of the in-goal after the play-the-ball for the next play.
Participants will practice their application of allowing or disallowing quick penalty kicks
Participants will run through a variety of signs indicating an event where they must blow the whistle and give the correct signal
Participants will practice their vocab sequence by running through some static rucks, with a variety of different tackle types
The participant will practice moving up off the 10m line, positioning themselves in a way in which they are best able to rule on passes and upcoming contact
The participant will start from a kick-off position before moving downfield and refereeing a set of 6 tackles, using specific tackle ID. Rucks are identified by a variety of markers set out on the field, representing different tackle types.
Participants will focus on using correct/specific communication to the ruck based on what they have identified in the tackle
Participants will perform a physical conditioning drill, aimed at increasing fitness whilst incorporating referee-specific movement patterns
Participants will perform a pivot shuttle set, aimed at increasing fitness levels whilst working on the specific movement patterns of refereeing
Participants will set a 10m distance and the coach will use marked rope to measure this distance and provide feedback to the participant
Participants will make a judgment on potential forward passes from a variety of positions, with the aim of showing participants how passes can look different depending on their position
Referee and Touch Judge rule on potential forward passes
The Referee will learn how to clear a kicker, scan for kick chasers, appropriately position themselves for a mid-field bomb, and then set the next 10m distance
Participants will perform shuttle runs on set times and distances, aimed at improving fitness
The Referee will set a 10m distance after a change of possession, and practice skills around holding the 10m defensive line
Referee learns how to control a quick 20m restart
Referee sets multiple 10m distances
